thanks for inviting me to be a freind i have been a diebetic for 8 years so its nice to belong to a club with people with the same ilness as me ,i got my annual eye test done in january which showed a slight diebet change in my right eye so im wondering if any one could tell me what this might be thanks liz xx
Grazing was also another one of my bad habbits. I was on that SEE FOOD diet when I was young my mom accused me of being a bottomless pitt an when I got to be a teen it was WORSE lol and of course it just carried on over the years. I keep munchies handy but that darn cake an ice cream thing keeps popping in my head. And cokes... i'm the coca cola freak from hell, as my wife and close friends will attest it's not a good thing to deprive me of my sodi lol so I have that to contend with as well lightin up my other favorite cigurettes. Somethin about gettin REALLY CRANKIE .. dunno why the all run *giggle*
I'm very sorry for your loss, and wanna thankyou for your comment. I'm new at this and kinda set in my ways on eating things I shouldn't lol. I'm finding out slowly but surely that ain't the way to go. Old habits are sometimes hard to break and that piece of cake keeps grabbing me as I go by and just makes me eat it..*sigh* I just sometimes cain't hep it ... but I've been doing better .. I"ve been eating "just a piece" instead of half the cake lol.
Thanks Amy. I'd appreciate it if you could send on to David Roberts as the event is in 3 weeks time and I'm really on a drive for donations at the moment! Thanks again.
Thanks Amy. I must admit that I feel a slight fraud joining this network as I am not diabetic. However, a colleague recently lost a close family member to an illness that I already know to be poorly managed and under acknowledged as a serious condition. My partner works as a medical represenative for a drugs company and I have two close friends and one family member with type 1 diabetes, so I'm not completely ignorant. Anyway, to get to the point, I decided to enter an Ironman competition in France in order to raise money for Diabetes UK. Yesterday, I set up a justgiving website (www.justgiving.co.uk/davidmapple) and sent out emails to friends, colleagues and family. One friend returned an email saying that I should speak to David Roberts at this site as it may help to raise the profile of what I am doing in order to raise as much money as possible. I am also running external events to the website in order to hit an ambitious target of £3000. I've trained for over 9 months for this event and can honestly say that it has not always been fun, so raising funds at least makes it worth the effort. If I'm in th wrong place, please accept my apologies, but I'm just looking for ideas to spread the word and increase donations. Thank you.
Matti Aalton-Setala from www.wristop.fi is developing a wrist blood glucose monitor that is linked to an insulin pump.
I wondered if any members of our community are using a similar device.
Hi, I have a blog about managing my Type 1 diabetes with the assistance of a medical alert dog. You can find out more at http://www.bradleyandme.net.
Thanks for reading,

I'm have the procedure done in about 2 months. How long is the after care? How long do you keep the tubes in after surgery? All the info you can give me would be greatful.
